Money's tight. You are by yourself. And you get a notice that your property is violating several codes. What do you do? For some, family and friends can step in to help get things back in shape.

Fox 10 reported that a woman in Arlington, Texas, was in this exact situation. Mary Joy Lott recently had a visit from four police officers in plain clothes. Sergeant Robert Robertson along with three officers, Leonard Moon, Emilio Rivera, and Jeremy Lee, had heard about her situation. Lott told reporters:

"I didn’t know what I was going to do".

The city was going to start fining her, and she didn't know how to get things fixed. The officers weren't there to give her a citation or fine. They were actually there to help fix her property, so she could avoid code enforcement issues.

The fence around the woman's property was in disrepair and falling apart. Her yard was also filled with debris and needed to be cleaned up. The four officers paid for fencing and concrete out of their own pockets.

“Nobody donated anything to us, we did it all upon ourselves, just to do a good deed for a lady in need,” Moon told Fox 10.

They poured concrete to anchor the fence posts and patched the fence to make it solid. The officers worked on her yard and plants as well. They worked late into the night, using their headlights to see what they were doing. The officers received no donations and took it upon themselves to do a good deed.

The city of Arlington featured the four officers on Social Media, applauding their efforts to make the city a great place to live. When people witness such acts of kindness, it encourages them to do the same for others.

Lott totally appreciates the officers' hard work and effort, though she is still shocked by their willingness to reach out and help her. It restored her faith in people. These four officers showed what service to the community is all about.

Also, pass this video along to others, so they can see it for themselves. Unfortunately, not everyone is blessed with people who can help. If you knew your property was in violation and the police knock at your door, what thoughts would pass through your head?
