Why Your Little Brother Is Your First Love

Think back to when you were a young child and your parents told you that you were going to be a big sister. You may have thought it might be ok if you have a little sister, but it turns out it is going to be a boy! Now, not only are you going to have to share the attention of your parents with someone else but is going to be a boy! Once the baby came, you felt like you were on the outside because everyone was too preoccupied and focused on this little being who has baby food all over his chubby face.But over time, we figured out that this little guy wasn't as bad as we thought he would be. In fact, he, and, of course, Dad became our first love. Here are the reasons why:
1. When I wanted to go on an adventure, I had someone to go with.
Even if you loved your dresses, dolls, and were as girly as they come, having your little brother around brought out the tomboy that was deep within you. With everything from bike rides, to pillow forts, to taking scary but exciting jumps off of the swing in the park or backyard, the two of you were just like Batman and Robin, only way cooler! Together, you could find the adventure wherever you went and never wanted it to stop.
2. Even if he didn't want to, he did the girly things I wanted to also.
Not only are little brothers good to go on adventures and play outdoors with, they were also younger than you and didn't realize that boys typically didn't play with dolls or play dress up. While they were sitting there with a ton of hairspray plastering their hair down and gobs of red lipstick on their lips, they did not have a clue. Mom got a kick, and a good laugh, taking numerous pictures of our brother all dressed in girl's clothes, with painted nails, and hanging onto a doll. Eventually, they grew up and realized these were not boys activities and traded in the Barbies for a football. But we still have those adorable pictures as proof. Thanks to Mom!

3. You always have been and always will be their biggest fan.
Boys are known for being involved in everything they can. Whether it is playing sports, playing a musical instrument, or their academics, our brothers have a great amount of talent. We, being the older sister, will always be their biggest fan. We make sure that we are there at every competition, game, and any other opportunity that we have to support the boy that has been our best friend since the earliest part of our childhood. It really doesn't matter if they are any good at what they are doing, they are the simply the best in our eyes.
4. He is why you know how you should be treated by a boy.
Although he doesn't like to and possibly won't admit it, he adores you. This is why he treats you so well. He loves you without any strings attached and knows exactly what to do or say to make you laugh until your stomach aches. The two of you are like two peas in a pod. You make the best memories with all of the amazing times you have together. Even though he may not want to show how much he cares, he would do anything he could for you. This is why he has set the example of how a boyfriend and eventually a husband should be treating you: with kindness, respect, lots of love, and a heavy dose of sarcasm.
5. He is not going to sugarcoat anything.
He will tell you point-blank to your face when you are being a drama queen. He will always be unbiased in his opinions and nobody will ever be as honest as your brother. And deep down you know that you can always rely on him because he will always be there for you.
6. He will be one of the first people to insult you, but will not allow for anyone else to say anything negative about you.
I'm not sure how it is for you, but mine will lovingly insult me time and time again. But if he hears, or hears of, anyone else insulting me, he will make sure they know not to do that again.
7. Since childhood, he has been and will continue to be your forever friend.
No matter what kind of relationship we have with our brothers, they will always be our friend and first love. Regardless of whether you almost always get along or constantly fight, you will always be there for each other and be forever friends.
He is really the best man in your life and will always be. There is nobody else who can take that special place in your heart. So, don't forget to tell him that you love him because he is probably the best thing that happened to you.
