Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, was christened in a private ceremony this past Saturday, 2 months after his birth to the day.

The ceremony was attended by close family members and held in the Queen’s Private Chapel in Windsor Castle, but why wasn’t she present herself?

In an Instagram post released by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, immediate family members were seen at the event. Archie’s proud parents Harry and Meghan were joined by Harry’s brother William and his wife Kate, Harry’s father Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Harry’s dear aunts (Princess Diana’s sisters), Lady McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes, and on Meghan’s side, her mother Doria Ragland.

Notably, Archie’s great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth and her husband Prince Philip were absent.

The reason for their absence was because of previous royal engagements that were already on the schedule. They were never expected to be there and had missed Prince Louis’ baptism last year as well, as reported in Harpers Bazaar.

Despite not being able to attend the little baby’s christening, it is clear that she is taken with the young prince. She was all smiles when she met Prince Archie soon after his birth, and we all know why now after seeing more photos—That is the cutest baby ever!

The famously private parents broke royal tradition for Archie’s christening and didn’t allow members of the press to attend. Instead, official photos were released by the couple, taken by photographer Chris Allerton, who was also their wedding photographer. Archie’s godparents have not yet been announced.

What do you think about the private ceremony? Should Harry and Meghan have allowed cameras in the Chapel?
