Matthew McConaughey and Hugh Grant joked in an interview about setting up their single parents on a date with one another, and later on it was revealed that it actually might be a reality.
Right before Christmas, Mashable sat down for an interview with the two dashing men and asked what their holiday plans were. Matthew spoke about spending time with his brother and mother in Texas, and at the sound of that, Hugh Grant’s ears perked up.
“Would your 87-year-old mother like a nice 91-year-old Englishmen?” he asked Matthew in the interview.
Matthew replied that his mother was indeed single and vital, and that they should set it up.

In a later interview on January 16, Matthew said “Why not?” to Entertainment Tonight when asked about the matchmaking moment, continuing on to say “Next week, they're supposed to meet, and we probably won't see them for the rest of the night."
“Yeah we did set them up and it was red hot,” Hugh dryly said to the interviewer when asked.
The two are starring in an ensemble movie called “The Gentlemen” directed by Guy Ritchie that also stars Michelle Dockery, Henry Golding and Charlie Hunnam. Although they are already coworkers in one way, Matthew remarked about their parents date saying, it’s “another way of working together,” in the Mashable interview.
