While Gardener Turns Over Soil A Bird Hops Right In To Help By Collecting The Worms

They say the early bird gets the worm. How about a friendly bird? There's a lesson for us here in this viral video of a gardener turning over soil with a gardening fork. It's the simplest, sweetest thing to witness. A man and a wild bird cooperate to the benefit of both.

It's not something you see every day. This man is turning over the rich soil and exposing the worms in the ground. Every kid has done this while playing in their yard, right? But this man has a coworker. It looks like a young robin, and she's very hungry. As he digs up the soil, the bird hops right in to help by collecting the worms. She gobbles them down as quickly as he can find them.

The funniest part of this video is the ongoing conversation the two partners have. He talks to the robin the entire time, pointing out worms and encouraging her to look for more. He's careful to not bump her in any way with his pitchfork, even when she hops up on it and goes for a ride! She chirps throughout the entire video. She's providing her own video narration!

She might be commenting on the quality of the worms in this area, or describing her giant benefactor for her feathered audience! As they work out a method for exposing worms and pointing them out, the hungry little bird gets very close to the man and his fork.

Not only does she seem to respond to his direction, but she's quick at spotting worms herself. When she starts to get full and slows down a little, she mellows out and accepts worms being fed directly to her. Finally satisfied, she starts to move away from their work. I guess the early bird gets to knock off early, too!
