A baby being born prematurely can be extremely emotionally challenging for parents. This becomes even more difficult when they're born 3.5 months early. For one family, the early arrival of their son was handled in a very special way.

CNN reports that Ward Miles was brought into this world months ahead of schedule. He wasn't even two pounds. Father Benjamin Scot Miller and mother Lyndsey had to wait four days to even embrace him. His first several months were spent hospitalized.

When Lyndsey was first able to hold Ward in her arms, it was apparent that her love for him was unquestionable. She got very emotional, choking back tears as she kept Ward close.

Wanting to find a way to get through this tough time, Benjamin decided the best thing to do would be to document what Ward and the rest of the family were going through. Chronicling his first year, Benjamin showed how Ward was treated and nurtured. Through his hospitalization, he was given the appropriate care to let him grow.

Though the process was gradual, the adoration of Lyndsey and Benjamin seems to have let them stay encouraged about their son's prognosis. It took 107 days of hospitalization, but he was eventually able to find his way home.

Though small and still in need of plenty of special attention, Ward was able to become the feisty and lovable baby they knew he was always capable of being.

His parents have doted over him. It's not just the love for him being their son. It's also pride for how strong of a fighter he's been even before reaching age one. He's a giggling, excitable baby, no matter what size he gets.

The journey for Ward and his parents has undoubtedly been a rollercoaster. When he was born 3.5 months early, they likely knew it would be a journey, but they might've not known how hard it would be. Their love for their son eclipsed any worry about facing this challenge.

Thanks to their faith and the help of the hospital staff, Ward has been able to thrive.
