A mother excitedly awaits the birth of her baby girl when her drug test comes back positive for opiates. She watches her daughter being taken away. Why did this happen?

Elizabeth Eden was going to the hospital where she was to have her baby. She decided to get some breakfast before checking in at St. Joseph Medical Center — a decision would come back to haunt her.

Later that day, she went into active labor. She got to meet her daughter, Beatrice, for the first time and her husband Brian was right there with her the entire time.

Then, the doctor stepped into the room with some shocking news. A routine drug test had come back positive for opiates. Elizabeth knew there had to be a mistake so she begged to have the test performed again because there was no way it could be right.

The hospital reported her to state authorities as a suspected drug user and social workers started an active investigation into the entire household.

In the meantime, the hospital staff whisked baby Beatrice away because she had to be tested for opiates. For the next few days, hospital staff monitored and tested Beatrice for withdrawal symptoms. It took three weeks for baby Beatrice to be officially declared free from drugs.

Through all this, Elizabeth thought she was in an episode of "The Twilight Zone" she said to Inside Edition. A much-anticipated birth ended up in a surreal nightmare.

Because Elizabeth had a bagel with poppy seeds on top for breakfast the day she went into labor, her drug test came back as positive. Inside Edition reports that studies show even a teaspoon of poppy seeds can trigger a failed drug test.
