When A Bear Broke Into Their Home, Their Small Dog Made The Ultimate Sacrifice To Protect This Family

Dogs are known as man's best friend. Why is that? Is it because they are ready to sit whenever you tell them to or because they are ready to hug you whatever mood you may be in? While those are all true, the biggest reason to consider dogs as best friends is because of their undying loyalty. The next story is about a dog that proved it.

Pickles, a 5-pound dog from North Carolina, was the least suspected hero in combat with a bear. The story that took place, however, proves that the small poodle was only small in his size and not in his heart. When the bear entered their home, Tiffany Merril yelled for the kids to shut the doors to their rooms.

When the bear went again into the house, the dog began barking outside to get the bear's attention and bring it out.

This saved the lives of the family.

Pickles was so small compared to the bear, but its barking and yelping helped to keep the bear just long enough for the family to close off all entrances to the house. The saving of the family came with the price of Pickle's life as he was fatally wounded.

Tiffany felt so helpless as she could not save her dog as it was dealing with the bear. 

The brave little poodle did not survive the attack despite being rushed to the hospital and having surgery done on him. Pickles died from the injuries that he received from the bear attack.

Later that day, Merril shared on social media that their little dog had saved their lives but lost his own.

The scene happened as Merril opened the door to let her dog use the bathroom. The bear entered the home and the dog distracted it from entering the house. Merril even fell as she was running away from the bear to get her children to close all the doors.

Merril asked for prayers for her dog whom she couldn't believe was dead. 

This little dog was always by the side of his family and always there for his owners. They will truly miss him and always remember that he saved them. Everyone in the house feels the emptiness of their small friend gone.
