‘Wheel of Fortune’ Contestant Says He’s ‘Trapped In A Loveless Marriage’

"Wheel of Fortune" has been on the air since 1975. There have been more than 6,000 episodes. You might think that, having been around for so long, the show is all out of surprises. However, contestant Blair Davis surprised the host when he told him how he was trapped in a "loveless marriage."

From the second Blair Davis stepped on the set, it was obvious he was going to be unlike most other contestants. From his bald head to his bushy, chest-length beard, the Cardiff, California man broke the mold.

At first, things seemed to be relatively typical. Pat Sajak, the longtime host of the show, began to introduce the players. Blair is a grandfather and the owner of a trucking company -- okay, all fairly normal. Then Sajak asked about the man's family.

"I've been trapped in a loveless marriage for the last 12 years," he proclaimed. He then went on to describe his wife as "an old battleax named Kim" as Sajak gave an awkward chuckle. He claimed that Kim "cursed him" with three stepchildren and that he has a rotten grandson.

"No wonder you came here," Sajak quipped with a laugh. "You just wanted to get away from everybody."

As for Blair, he said that it was all a joke. He loves his family, he says, more than anything in the world. He claimed it was a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be on "Wheel of Fortune." He wanted to have fun with it. As for his family, they don't mind. They knew what he was going to say ahead of time.
