Wedding Dress Parties Give Women An Opportunity To Use Their Expensive Dresses Again

Buying an expensive dress to wear for only one day can seem silly. Many brides are realizing this now. While many opt into wearing their mother’s dress or even their grandmother’s dress to save money, some people just buy used. Some donate their dress after the wedding so another doesn't have to pay so much. Now, many women are choosing to wear their dresses another time after their wedding day. Women are getting together and throwing parties so they can wear their dress another time, and some for surprising reasons.

This can be a very fun excuse to bring everyone back together in your bridal party. If you have friends or family members who have never been married, they can wear a vintage dress to the party or find one to wear at a thrift store. It sounds like a very fun and exciting way to get people together and have a fun night in or out!

Remember the episode where they did exactly this on the show Friends? The three women got together in wedding dresses because they felt amazing in them. This is a very easy party to put together. All you need is some drinks, some snacks, and maybe even a pizza if you are feeling a little extravagant. However, if you go out or need to stop somewhere on your way there, you might get some awkward glances in your direction, especially if your group is out all together.

One variety of wedding dress party is the divorce party. Not willing to let her divorce get her down, Nicole Niesner of Sasketchewan, Canada decided to throw one of them, reports Inside Edition. Telling her friend, her friend said she would "take care of it", and to be home at 6:30. Imagine her surprise when her friends all showed up in their wedding dresses. She dug out her dress and joined in, sharing bottles of wine and stories. She says that it turned what could have been a really tough day into one of positivity and reminiscence. 

But she did remember to put the wedding dress back into the box in case there was another such party.

Nicole had hers at home, but if you are feeling brave enough, take this gathering out to a restaurant or even a bar! It would be fun and entertaining for everyone involved. Could you see you and your friends digging out your wedding dresses and wearing them again? You don’t want that dress to just sit in your closet forever. Get one more use out of it and have a great time in the process.
