Watch: Good Samaritan Won't Give Up, Saves Choking Homeless Puppy

We are all pretty familiar when it comes to human CPR. We may have seen it performed or even performed it ourselves. Some people have even had it performed on themselves during a health emergency. However, not everyone is aware of how to perform CPR when it comes to dogs.

Dogs are, of course, built much differently than us. This means that the method for performing CPR is much different. Some of the methods are similar to those described for helping young children, such as the “sharp blow” you are supposed to do between the shoulder blades.

Another difference is where the rib cage of a dog is. Side compressions are necessary when performing CPR on a dog. You also blow air into their noses instead of their mouths.

We all hope that we never have to perform CPR on a dog. However, dogs are notorious for eating gross and disgusting things.

For one puppy in Turkey, it was just a piece of sausage that caused the dog to choke almost to death.

The dog in question was a stray who was living on handouts. A shopkeeper had been feeding the dog when he saw that it seemed to be struggling to breathe. He had no idea what to do, so he decided to yell out for help.

Omer Yilmaz was nearby when he heard the shopkeeper yelling. He ran over to see what was wrong, only to find the dog already limp and unresponsive. Yilmaz quickly swept the dog’s mouth to see if there was a piece of anything that had gotten stuck.

He was able to dislodge the sausage that had gotten caught in his throat.

Next, he rubbed on his chest and carried him over to a nearby sink. He splashed a bit of water on the puppy’s face before breathing into the puppy’s nose. He kept massaging the puppy in an effort to get him to breathe.

The puppy started to come around after all of the effort Yilmaz put in.

While he was a little dazed, additional footage showed that he was doing well and playing with other siblings.

We are so glad that the man was there to help this poor little puppy. We also hope they all get adopted into good homes!
