Having to let go of the life of a young child with no control over the situation is one of the most devastating experiences a person can be put through. Unfortunately, this is a reality that some have had to face. It is important to have and spread awareness of these situations to prevent such occurrences as much as we possibly can. The story of Alby serves as a sad and devastating example.

During late February, Alby and his mother Anna were spending time together. Alby was playing with a spherical toy ball, with his mother’s permission, and unfortunately began to choke on the toy. After taking notice of this, Anna began to perform CPR on her son. She did so for 16 minutes while waiting for the ambulance.

Minutes went to hours, and all Anna could do was wait in a torturous state of panic and sadness.

Alby was playing with a spherical ball that was allegedly the size of an Australian coin worth 50 cents, though Anna posted photos on her Instagram of the ball in comparison to the coin to show that the ball is much bigger.

There are warnings on the packaging of the toy that it's not suitable for kids under 3, but since Alby was turning 4 in just a few days, Anna felt it was okay for her son to play with it.

The ball got stuck in Alby's windpipe.

Anna tried desperately to save the child but could only do so much. She lost the life of her precious son while the paramedics were on the way.

In the mourning of the wonderful child, we should also use this story to stop similar things from happening in the future and spread awareness. Back blows and abdominal thrusts are known to work best in these situations and should be carried out in a scenario similar to Alby’s.

As been expressed, Alby and Anna’s tragedy should be mourned as Anna endures her long healing process. Further, we should use this occurrence to lower the number of future misfortunes.
