In our politically tumultuous world, it's easy to become cynical. These days it seems like we're constantly fighting with one another and that empathy is a long-forgotten relic of a past era.

However, no matter how dark these times may seem, all over the country there are constantly little moments of compassion, empathy and kindness occurring. Sometimes we need to pause and remind ourselves of the absolute good that lies within most people.

One example of this absolute good is Tracy Conner. Conner is a Walmart cashier in Clarksdale, Mississippi, who's been with the company for a little over a dozen years.

According to Conner, she's nothing special. According to her community members and the people who've been affected by her story, however, Conner is an everyday hero who could teach all of us a thing or two about kindness, patience, and warmth.

One afternoon, an old man approached Conner's register to purchase his items. After Conner greeted the elderly gentleman, rang up his items and read him his total, the man became flustered. Shaking, he reached into his pockets and began to pull out handfuls of change.

With a line forming behind him, the old man became nervous. Trying his hardest, his nerves got the best of him as he attempted to count his change. He kept miscounting and having to start over again.

Many cashiers would have rolled their eyes or smirked at the impatient customers standing behind the old man. But Conner is a special kind of human being. Gently, she helped him to dump his handfuls of change onto the conveyor belt. "[It's] not a problem, honey," Conner said sweetly, according to CBS Baltimore. "We'll do this together."

Together, they counted his change. Conner took the correct amount and put it into her register. After the transaction was complete and the old man was on his way, Conner greeted the next person in line and thanked her for her patience.

The woman Conner thanked, Spring Bowlin, wasn't angry in the slightest. She countered Conner's words of thanks with thanks of her own. Thanks for Conner's compassion, for her kindness. That's when Conner blew her away with some simple words. "You [don't] have to thank me, baby," Conner replied easily. "What’s wrong with this world is that we’ve forgotten how to love each other."

Conner didn't know it, but her message of love and empathy was about to go viral. Bowlin was too moved to just forget about the interaction and go about her day. Instead, she rushed home to type out a long Facebook post about the compassion she'd witnessed.

Now, thanks to her, Conner's act of kindness is getting attention all over the world. Do your part to keep this story spreading so that this compassionate woman's act of love can reach hearts far and wide.
