Walking is one of the best forms of exercise imaginable. In addition to getting lots of sunshine and seeing nature’s beauty, you can burn off calories in an easy, low impact manner. Nevertheless, walking can also be time-consuming and tiring. Such was the case of Adrianna Edwards of Galveston, Texas. Adrianna is a waitress at a Denny’s in the city and since she had no car, walked14 miles to work each day. Although the exercise has been great for Adrianna in that she has lost 25 pounds, it is also incredibly hard. Adrianna’s pedestrian commute encompassed five hours, time which she was not compensated for by the restaurant.
One day, Adrianna was chatting with two of her customers about her life as they ate breakfast. Adrianna told the couple of her commute and how it wasn’t easy getting to work each day. In addition to saving up money to buy a car, Adrianna was also looking to better her future by going to college. Impacted by her story, the couple returned later that day with a special present for Adrianna: a 2011 Nissan Sentra.

At first, Adrianna thought the couple were playing a joke on her. Speaking with reporters from KTRK News, Adrianna said that while she enjoys a good prank as much as the next person, she felt that the couple’s joke was in poor taste. Despite her doubts, one of the donors, who wished to remain anonymous, insisted that the car belonged to her. Realizing that it wasn’t a joke, Adrianna thought that she had strayed into a dream, not believing the act of kindness done for her.
"I still feel like I'm dreaming", said the Galveston waitress to ABC13 Houston.
In an interview with reporters, one of the donors said that she included a note with the car wishing Adrianna a Merry Christmas. The donor also says that she hopes that one day, Adrianna pays it forward to someone else in need. Adrianna promises to do just that, telling reporters that after the act of kindness shown to her, she feels that she will be more likely to help others.
What do you think of how the couple bought Adrianna a car after hearing of her laborious commute? Have you ever had to commute a long time to get to work or school?
