Vince Gill & Amy Grant’s Blended Family: A Closer Look at Their Five Children

Nov 27, 2025 by apost team

Country legend Vince Gill and award-winning singer Amy Grant share one of Nashville's most beloved blended families. Together, they have raised five children—each with unique talents, careers and life stories—forming a close-knit household that grew through patience, love and time.

Grant welcomed three children with musician Gary Chapman, whom she married in 1982 and divorced in 1999. Their children—Matthew (born 1987), Millie (born 1989) and Sarah (born 1992)—spent their early lives surrounded by the Christian music world that shaped their mother's career. Meanwhile, Gill welcomed his daughter Jennifer "Jenny" Jerene Gill in 1982 with Janis Oliver of Sweethearts of the Rodeo.

After both artists endured painful separations, their friendship deepened, and by 2000, they married. Grant acknowledged that blending their families required sensitivity and honesty, recalling in The Tennessean that her daughter Millie sensed the relationship early on, asking, "Is he your boyfriend?" When Grant quietly answered yes, she knew life was about to change.

Adjusting to a blended household took time, something Grant openly discussed during her 2013 appearance on the show Katie, joking that at their wedding, she and Gill were "the only excited ones." According to Gill, their daughter Corrina, born on March 12, 2001, became an anchoring presence. He told AARP Magazine in 2011: "She bonded all of us in a blood way that really did connect us."

As Gill continues to earn major honors—including the 2025 CMA Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award—his children remain deeply woven into his story. From musicians and entrepreneurs to quiet family figures working behind the scenes, each child has carved a meaningful path.

Jennifer "Jenny" Gill (born 1982) followed both parents into music, releasing her EP "The House Sessions" in 2017, produced by her father. She married music executive Josh Van Valkenburg in 2010, and they share two children. Her daughter Everly made her Grand Ole Opry debut in 2025, a moment Jenny proudly celebrated.

Matthew Garrison Chapman (born 1987) is Grant's eldest child. Matthew is the founder of LabCanna, a cannabis company launched in 2016. Raised among touring artists, he told The Tennessean that a "normal job" felt unlikely, joking, "I learned to walk on a tour bus." Grant supported his early business efforts by offering farmland for his first greenhouse crop.

Gloria Mills "Millie" Long (born 1989) inspired Grant's hit "Baby Baby", and her life has continued to reflect deep compassion. In 2017, she donated a kidney to her lifelong best friend, an act her father called "beyond words." Millie married Ben Long in 2019 and is now a mother of two — Penelope, born in 2022, and Oliver, born in 2024.

Sarah Cannon Besenius (born 1992) is known for her quieter presence. In detail, Sarah married Derek Besenius in 2019 and now works in leadership at LabCanna as chief operating officer. Her siblings have celebrated her milestones publicly, describing her as loyal, grounded and family-focused.

Corrina Grant Gill (born 2001) is the youngest. Corrina inherited her parents' musical gifts. She often posts singing videos and has honored both parents through performances—including a touching 2022 tribute where she changed Gill's lyrics to "When My Mama Prays" while Grant recovered from a severe accident. In 2023, she released her debut EP, Here For Holding, dedicated to "every person who's held me."

Together, these five children reflect the strength, creativity and resilience that define Gill and Grant's blended family—a family built through honesty, shared growth and unwavering love.
