Clothing reflects a person’s individuality and style. Regardless of the profession that a person has chosen to work in, people understandably want to feel comfortable and confident throughout the day. News anchors are in the spotlight on a daily basis, and their wardrobe choices occasionally are a source of ridicule.

However, one news anchor recently refused to accept such criticism about her wardrobe.

Maggie Vespa is a news anchor in Portland, Oregon for KGW-TV. Like many other news anchors, she enjoys wearing pants on air because they are comfortable. During a recent broadcast, she chose to wear high-waisted pants.

Immediately after, a viewer named Jeffrey left a message for Maggie on Facebook, asking her why she "can't dress like a normal woman."

"Just wanted to let you know that the clothes you've been wearing, especially those crazy pants that ride half way up your torso, are not cool looking, in any way! ... You're way too pretty to look so foolish...", he wrote, according to Inside Edition.

Maggie chose to address this rude comment on air. Her statement was that the message was “dumb” and that she would continue to wear the pants because she likes them. She addressed all of her viewers by saying that everyone should dress how they want to.

If anyone does not like someone else’s clothing, then that is their personal issue. Her verbal retort was followed by visuals of five other pairs of pants that she had recently worn immediately after reading the viewer's rude message. Maggie’s co-workers supported her by wearing their own high-waisted pants in the days that followed.
