Video Of Child's Tantrum On 8-Hour Flight Goes Viral For Controversial Reasons

Being able to fly to and from your destination has been one of the greatest advances in technology. However, the actual process is often a stressful one. You have to get to the airport on time, find your flight, get through security, check in, and then board the plane.

Throughout the whole ordeal, you hope that nothing happens that may cause a cancellation or delay. You just want the whole flight to go as smoothly as possible, right?

Once you finally make it onto your plane, you probably are ready to sit back and relax. Maybe you want to read, watch a movie, or rest your eyes. If you are traveling with young kids, they can quickly complicate the process. Kids who are not used to flying often act up. It is to be expected, at least to some extent.

But the video we are about to see is definitely an extreme case of a child throwing a major tantrum!

Shane Townley is the man who captured the insane meltdown on video. He was on a flight that was leaving Germany to land in the United States. This particular flight is an eight-hour long journey. It is obviously taxing for anyone, adult or child.

However, this flight was even worse due to a mother who had her very loud and rowdy three-year-old son with her.

It started before the plane had gotten off of the runway.

In the video, you can see the little boy up on the top of the seats. A little bit after that, the mother can be heard talking to a flight attendant about having the Wi-Fi turned on quicker. She wanted to distract him with an iPad.

The small child blew off some steam by running up and down the plane aisle for a little bit. You can tell this only worked for a little while. Soon, he began to scream and yell again. This was obviously tough for everyone on the plane.

The plane finally landed in Newark, New Jersey. While we all probably have a very instinctively negative reaction when we watch the video, think about a few things. For one, Townley says that the mother never tried to do anything to stop the child from acting up, but we can only see what he has allowed us to see in his recording. The airlines did ask the mother to get off of the flight before it took off. She convinced them to let her and her son stay, saying that everything would be fine once the Wi-Fi was on and she could distract her child with the iPad.

Townley described the child as “demonic sounding” and stated that he was obviously “addicted to technology.” The mother stated that her son has behavioral problems. Yes, more precautions should have been taken in advance to make sure the child was entertained and behaved during the flight. While Townley said this lasted the whole eight-hour flight, the video itself is under ten minutes long.

So far, the video has over eight million views. It has also caused much controversy. Some say that Townley is only exploiting the situation to draw in more viewers and followers to his Instagram and YouTube channels.

What are your thoughts on the video? Was Townley right for uploading the clip to the internet? Let us know in the comments below and then pass this along to others so they can join in on the discussion!
