Veterinarian Stopped Dead In His Tracks Right Before Putting Dog To Sleep

Life is usually a one-shot deal for the majority of us and that goes for pets and other animals we see as well. It's wonderful news when an animal gets a second chance and finds a home with someone who truly cares for them and stands by their side; they're quite lucky actually. A few years ago, that's what happened to Emu, a stray dog living in South Africa.  Someone dropped the old street dog off at the vet to be euthanized. Luckily, the veterinarian who was working at the time suggested Emu be put up for adoption.

Emu, another stray on the street, had his share of being homeless. He made his rounds and eventually ended up in a vet’s office where he was to be put down, according to this video from Sidewalk Specials. This was probably the luckiest day of Emu’s life. The veterinarian decided that he wouldn’t be putting Emu down that day.

Instead, he would be taking him to the Sidewalk Specials Adoption Day event. This was so he could find a home and receive the love and care that he truly needed.

Sidewalk Specials is a group of individuals that have come together and created an organization that helps to rescue dogs from unideal situations. They’re located in Cape Town, South Africa. Euthanasia isn’t on their list; they foster 100 percent of animals that are rescued.

This allows them to rest easy knowing that there isn’t the need for shelters for these animals. They can also rest easy knowing that the dog will be matched with a forever home. Another advantage of the way they operate is there isn’t any overhead.

Emu’s life wasn’t the easiest when he was homeless; this left him very skittish. With time and help, Emu began to open up and become confident. With the adoption of an older dog, it’s never easy. It calls for quite a bit of patience and determination.

Emu has come a long way and is even learning to socialize now. Once his story was public and shared across the internet, he received the help that he needed to make a full recovery. He is now one happy and healthy pup!

Once Emu was ready to be adopted out, he was brought to Adoption Day. He was older and not the best looking dog around but little did this pup know that he would be leaving with his forever family. They couldn’t wait to begin their journey with him.

Since being adopted, Emu has received a new name, Nutzie, according to Sidewalk Specials' video.

He even has a sibling pup called Sahara. Nutzie and Sahara are the best of friends and don’t spend much time apart from each other. Nutzie’s family states that he brings them much joy and quite a bit of laughter. There is so much love in their family and you can tell that Nutzie doesn’t have any fear of being homeless again.

It’s our job to look out for the animals that can’t take care of themselves. Sidewalk Specials wants you to be encouraged to adopt not shop. You can be a life or death change for a dog out there.

What do you think of Nutzie's story? Have you ever rescued a dog? Let us know and pass this on to fellow animal lovers.
