Veterinarian Adopts Kitten Who “Loves Life” Born With Rare Condition Giving Her Two Faces

Dec 08, 2019 by apost team

Kittens that suffer from deformities are some of the most unique, and often the ones with the biggest personalities. Duo is a kitty that proves this is the truth. The fuzzy little cat was born with not one, but two faces – meaning that she has one head, two mouths, two noses, and four eyes.

In cats, this is called diprosopus or craniofacial duplication. While this seems like it might be a miserable existence, Duo is one cat that is happy to enjoy every minute of her life!

Despite her deformities, Duo got a good start to life when she was taken in by Dr. Ralph Tran, a veterinarian from California. When Dr. Tran took in Duo, he had to keep her alive by feeding her with a feeding tube and a syringe since she was unable to eat properly. Duo was just a few weeks old when they met one another.

Duo is now 4 months old, and Dr. Tran is happy with her progress. He explains that she can now eat on her own, using both of her mouths to consume the food. Just the sight of her food bowl is enough to make Duo go running toward it, and Dr. Tran told the Metro that she purrs the entire time that she is eating.

While Dr. Tran loves Duo, he admits that it has been a challenge to raise the little kitty, but very rewarding at the same time.

Dr. Tran has other cats and Duo gets along well with them, playing with them and fighting them for her owner’s attention. The vet says that she is much like any other kitten now that she knows how to play with the cats and interact with others.

The future is looking bright for Duo, although she may have to have a surgery at some point to correct her middle eyes. Duo is also behind other kittens her age size-wise; however, she doesn’t let that get her down.

Dr. Tran told AOL that Duo "loves life" and is one happy kitten that doesn’t let her disabilities stop her from doing the same things as other cats.

We are so happy for Duo and inspired by her story. If this kitten can overcome such tremendous odds, we should use her as a lesson in our own lives! Have you ever had a pet that suffered from deformities? Let us hear about them in the comments section below.
