Veteran Takes Daughter of Deceased Marine to Father-Daughter Dance

Tragedy struck Khloe Braunstein and her family when her father took his own life after suffering from PTSD.

According to KIVI TV, she was only two and a half when she lost her dad. Having served in the Marines, he suffered as many veterans do when returning home. Khloe's father doted on her, but the pain of his experiences led to his suicide.

While Khloe will miss him forever, there are certain occasions when his loss is particularly hard to take. Even more heartbreaking was the bullying that Khloe received at school because of her situation. Steve Exceen, a marine himself, decided he could not stand by while Khloe suffered.

With a father-daughter dance approaching he asked Khloe's mother if it was okay if he took her. Mary Braunstein was brought to tears by the request, and she thought it was a wonderful idea.

With the help of Steve's own daughter, Sarai, he formally asked Khloe to the dance. She was equally thrilled that she could go with an older male role model. Steve and his daughter picked up Khloe and took her to the Ties and Tiaras dance.

Steve was just as emotional about the occasion, and he was honored to be able to take both girls to an event they will never forget.

This will be a moment that I will forever cherish

Steve did not expect the type of reception that his gesture would result in. His action was an inspiration to the thousands of people who have viewed his posts.

While nobody will ever replace Khloe's dad, it is nice to know that Steve is around to keep an eye out for Khloe and she grows up.

How moved were you by Steve's gesture? Have you ever had anybody do something so sweet for you too? Let us know in the comments - and feel free to pass this along to your friends and family!
