Cilla Carden a woman who takes up a vegan lifestyle and lives in Perth, Australia is suing her neighbors for barbecuing in the backyard. However, after the news of her legal battle spread, thousands of people are now planning a barbecue protest outside her home in response to her legal action taken against her neighbors.

Carden has taken her neighbors to court since 2017 for the smells and noise she claims they have created. Carden told Nine News Perth, “They’ve put [the barbecue] there so I smell fish, all I can smell is fish. I can’t enjoy my backyard, I can’t go out there.” However, fish smells isn’t the only thing that Carden is taking her neighbors to court over.

She also alleges in her lawsuit that the neighbors disturb her with cigarette smoke which floats into her yard and their children play basketball and make other noises in the backyard that disturb Carden. “It's been devastating, it's been turmoil, it's been unrest, I haven't been able to sleep," she said Nine News Perth

However, the neighbors claim to the local news that they just want to keep the peace. They showed the station how they have removed the barbecue and made their children stop playing basketball.

A group was started on Facebook called “Community BBQ for Cilla Carden,” thousands of people have already joined and continue to plan for a barbecue outside of Cilla Carden’s residence on October 19th.

The about page on the group says, “Cilla Carden has a problem with her neighbors cooking meat on their BBQ, because she’s a vegan. Recently taking them to the Supreme Court! Don’t let Cilla destroy a good old Aussie tradition, join us for a community BBQ in protest of her actions.” The group claims it is a peaceful protest and they will not enter or congregate on Carden’s property.

Unfortunately for Carden, her case was thrown out by tribunal and a Supreme Court judge who took the side of her neighbors saying, “What they are doing is living in their backyard and their home as a family," the Evening Standard quoted.

However, Carden is not finished yet she is appealing the court and judges’ decision and will return to court soon according to the local news.
