Vanessa Bryant Will Receive Fan Tributes Left For Kobe And Gianna

Feb 03, 2020 by apost team

It's been a week since the tragic helicopter crash that took the life of several people, including Kobe Bryant and his daughter. Many people have left tribute items outside the Staples Center in L.A., but these now have to go, as the Center needs the space back. Vanessa Bryant has decided to take all those fans' tributes in.

It's not an easy decision to make, but the Staples Center needed its space back. So the fans' tributes, unfortunately, have to go. During the week following the tragic crash, many fans left items to show their grief and sympathy: from flowers to stuffed animals to shirts and caps. Fans even wrote self-made posters and left them with in tribute of the beloved sports star.

However, the tribute won't simply go to waste. The Staples Center has already decided what to do with everything compostable, like the myriads of flowers that were left over the days. Lee Zeidmann, the Center's president, mentioned in an interview with The Los Angeles Times that:

“So we’re going to compost all those flowers out there and spread them around the plants in and around L.A. Live and in and around Staples Center,” Zeidman said. “So that means that all those fans that took the time to buy the flowers and plants and brought them down there, some of that will still be around the site."

He also added that fans could, of course, still come to the Staples Center to share their grief with other fans if they felt they need to, but that they please do not bring gifts with them. Instead, so Zeidmann, they could make a small donation to the Mamba Foundation set up for the families of the helicopter crash's victims.

As for everything else, according to the same article, Vanessa Bryant has actually requested the fan tributes. So the Center will be cataloging every item that was left, putting everything into specially made containers and shipping it to the Bryant family. Nothing will be left behind. Hopefully, the items will give the Bryant family some closure.

Our best wishes go out to Vanessa Bryan and her surviving daughters. Do you think the Staples Center's idea of spreading the flowers around L.A. is a good one? Pass this story along to find out what your friends think as well.
