Vanessa Bryant 'Extremely Proud' Of Late Spouse Kobe Bryant's Basketball Hall Of Fame Induction

Kobe Bryant’s wife Vanessa spoke out last Saturday on the news of her late husband’s posthumous induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Vanessa spoke on ESPN via Facetime while she quarantines at home with her family. Her teenage daughter Natalia sat by her side while she spoke to the sports outlet.

“It’s an incredible accomplishment and honor and we’re extremely proud of him,” Vanessa said about his induction. “Obviously we wish that he was here with us to celebrate but it’s definitely the peak of his NBA career.”

The emotional moment was punctuated when Vanessa described the solace she was able to feel on the knowledge that Kobe was probably going to be part of the hall of fame.

Kobe Bryant passed away on January 26 in a helicopter crash in California, along with his daughter Gianna while they were on their way to a basketball game. He was survived by his wife of 19 years Vanessa and their daughters Natalia, Bianka, and Capri reports ESPN.

Kobe joins the elite 2020 hall of fame class along with Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan. CNBC reports that the honorees will be officially enshrined in August in Springfield, Massachusetts. The impact of the induction is also fully felt by his old team, the Los Angeles Lakers.

Those qualities helped Kobe lead us to five titles – and have now brought him to the Hall of Fame, where he will be enshrined with the greatest to have ever played the game. No one deserves it more.”
