A group of talented US soldiers performing a beautiful a cappella rendition of Amazing Grace in 2018, and people say that it should be the theme song of the U.S. Army.
There are always songs that are classic American hits that hold a lot of meaning in the hearts of people of all Creeds across this great land. Our hidden emotions are always tugged at by such ballads that truly remind us that even in the most desperate of times, we are always one people that should seek to better one another through compassion and love.
One of these classic songs is Amazing Grace, which was originally a Christian hymn published in 1779. It was written by a man named John Newton who is forced to serve in the British Navy after being kidnapped by them and impressed into their service. They forced John Newton to work on a slaving ship that participated in the transatlantic slave trade.

According to The Irish Times, John Newton was on the boat off the coast of County Donegal, Ireland, when a storm unlike anything the crew had ever seen before began to assault the ship ferociously. John was never a religious man, but when faced with such mortal danger, he called out to God to give him mercy.
Amazingly, the storm abated, and the crew was safe. This marked the spiritual turning point of John Newton and his spiritual conversion to Christianity. Although previously jaded and bitter at the world, he would not let what he saw as the cruelty of others done to the enslaved as well as to him and his forced service by the British taint his soul any longer.
Inspired by the hardships all around him combined with his new spirituality, the now-abolitionist John Newton wrote the lyrics and tune for Amazing Grace. The song would go on to be a rallying cry to those who opposed slavery in the New World, and it would be sung for hundreds of years and remix by countless artists and performed by thousands of talented individuals all over the world.
It's considered one of the most recognizable songs in the English language, and it carries with it a melody of hope and inspiration for humanity against the odds.
There's little that is more patriotic and heartwarming than seeing soldiers serenading fellow Americans with such a noble tune. Soldiers of the United States defend freedom and justice, and they risk their lives on a regular basis while spending months and years far away from their loved ones and friends.
While on active duty, it's essential for soldiers to construct strong bonds with one another. In a way, they are the surrogate family of one another when so far away.
Despite how old Amazing Grace is, the lyrics really couldn't be more fitting in today's times. When the going gets rough, and it's difficult to find the light at the end of the tunnel, a little bit of grace and humanity can get you through the darkness. These soldiers wanted to illustrate the entire world on their YouTube video that it's possible for anyone to make it through the darkest of days.
When the music first begins, you can hear Specialist Brailey's soulful serenade as we slowly are exposed to these stunning soldier melodies. It's only a few moments more until the entire room it's filled with voices of soldiers and uniform and continuously gives the entire audience goosebumps that just won't stop!
