Our soldiers work extra hard to make sure that we are safe from external enemy attacks. They risk their lives so that the world can be a better place. This is why we have to respect and honor their service to this nation. They are heroes, and we should all remember that.
In 2017, Hester noticed a soldier that had parked his jeep by the road and was standing at attention. It was on a Kentucky highway, and the soldier didn't have any uniform. The lady was surprised because it was raining outside and instead of the man staying in his car, he stood outside saluting at no one in sight.
That was when she looked at the other side of the road and saw an oncoming funeral procession. Immediately, Erin Hester realized that the soldier was paying homage to the departed person. She then went on to take a picture of the saluting soldier and the matching procession.

Hester then uploaded the photo on her social media page and added a comment praising the soldier for the amount of respect that he had shown the departed person. She was more impressed by the fact that he did it out of goodwill. Hester's followers and friends also praised the soldier on social media.
The media was curious about this man, and they searched for him. They discovered that he is called Colonel Jack Usrey. The man had a simple answer to the question that was on everyone's mind - why did he do it?
Colonel Jack said that he had been raised to honor those that had passed and show the family of the deceased that he cares. That was why he risked getting a cold and stood out in the rain to salute his fellow departed American.
This story just goes on to show that each one of us is human, and we are all united under one country. Therefore, it's always good to show some respect and remorse when a neighbor loses a loved one.
It doesn't hurt to show them that you care and are with them.
