If you’re on the hunt for a new home in Missouri, then you’re in for a treat: One fabulous 1875 property in the Fayette, Mo. area is up for grabs on the market. The stunning 2-bedroom home, which was extensively renovated in 2005, boasts a bright and spacious interior, with a gourmet kitchen and three levels of living area.

Oh, and did we mention it has a fully functioning jail adjacent to the kitchen?

Househunters and curious internet users are completely baffled by the peculiar listing, which went online on realtor.com on August 12. The asking price is at a mere $316,000, for which the stunning property along with a jail capable of holding 9 people can be bought.

“This home is 2465 sq ft with three levels of living area, 2 bedroom. 1.5 bath, high end finish throughout, appears to have been totally rewired, replumbed and new HVAC zoned system installed,” the listing reads.

“AND THE BEST PART, connected to the home is a 2500 sq ft legitimate jail with 9 cells, booking room and 1/2 bath.”

A heavy metal, gray door in the kitchen–which looks completely out of place in the otherwise beautiful home–leads to a series of jail cells. One of the cells even boasts two metal bunk beds, a toilet, and a holding area.

Photos on the listing show metal bars covering windows and doors, the only indication that something as bizarre as a jail could be in an otherwise unassuming home.

As outlandish as the home may seem, some insight into how it ended up featuring a jail in it is offered. According to the listing, the property served as the Howard County Sheriff's House and Jail back in the day.

Many have since taken to social media to express their astonishment regarding the strange property.

One Twitter user, @SairaKH, took to her feed to post photos of the home along with the caption, "This gorgeous house with AN ENTIRE PRISON in (sic) it can be yours for only $350,000.”

"Have a peaceful thanksgiving upstairs knowing that your prisoners are safely and quietly confined downstairs," she continued.

She humorously described one single cell as "a special room for misbehaving children.”

She then joked: "Hate your daughter's boyfriend? Disappear him in your basement while she sleeps in this gorgeous sunlit room.”

"Why go through a messy and expensive divorce when your house is equipped with one of these babies?"

The post proved to be a hit, garnering over 18.5 K likes since it went online on August 17.

"You can just sell your trafficking dungeon house on the open market now, cool cool cool," one user replied.

"Whoever buys this house should absolutely be monitored by the authorities," wrote another.

And our personal favorite, "Best mother-in-law suite ever."
