Uncommon White Bear Captured On Camera In The Wild

An extremely rare ‘white’ black bear was recently spotted by photographers in Canada. The cub was walking with his mom who has dark fur and other family members who are brown to dark brown as well. Bears are fascinating creatures and spotting them in the wild can be an exhilarating experience, although they may seem cute on the outside it is vital to keep your distance when spotting them in the wild. 

The multicolored family had been seen earlier in the week by another wildlife photographer named Abdulla Moussa.

"I think it's pretty rare like I don't know that there is another one in Kananaskis Country that park staff is aware of," said Moussa to CBC News. "To spend some time to kind of observe them, the cubs playing around and…just hanging out, that was really neat.”

Moussa also added that the bear was not a Spirit bear or Kermode bear which are a white-colored subspecies of black bears. The bear was also not albino although its appearance says otherwise. He claimed the bear was just a black bear with different a coat color.  Moussa stressed the importance of giving animals their space when you spot them in the wild.

"It's really trying to be a fly on the wall and just kind of observe, not just for the photography, but as a learning [experience]” Moussa said to CBC News adding, “It's really an incredible thing to be around wildlife in their own environment, it's really amazing."

Black bears usually give birth to two or three cubs during the winter and keep them in the den until spring arrives. The pack then ventures out for food. The babies will stay with their mother for around two years until they venture off on their own, according to National Geographic.
