The Irish rock band U2 performed an acoustic version of "Ordinary Love" on The Tonight Show on the day Jimmy Fallon premiered as the show’s host back in 2014.

When Jimmy Fallon took over The Tonight Show on February 24, 2014, he invited a bunch of celebrity guests. Amongst other stars, Robert De Niro, Lady Gaga, Mike Tyson, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Seth Rogen accepted the invitation and appeared on the show. To top it all off, the Irish rock band performed as musical guests with a spectacular performance of two of their songs.

At first, the band performed their single "Invisible” that they had just released at the time of recording. But they didn’t just give a regular performane on stage, instead, they played their song on the roof of a New York skyscraper where U2’s four members Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr. were additionally supported by Rutgers University’s Marching Band.

Later in the show, U2 performed one of their older songs: their classic hit "Ordinary Love." For this performance, they moved back into The Tonight Show-studio playing their guitars on the show’s couch to perform an acoustic version of "Ordinary Love." Close to the end of their performance The Tonight Show’s band, The Roots, joined in and Bono even ended up dedicating the last chorus of the song to the drummer of The Roots singing "Questlove" instead of "Ordinary Love".
