Tyra Banks Awkwardly Announces Wrong Duo In Bottom Two During Chaotic ‘DWTS’ Moment

Live TV means anything can happen. The new season of Dancing With the Stars proved this fact during eliminations when host Tyra Banks read the wrong names for the couples in the bottom two during Week 4's episode earlier this fall. This meant two dancers who thought they were safe returned to the stage. The mix-up caused some chaos on stage, but Tyra was able to continue without incident afterward. However, the mix-up was most certainly the most talked-about moment of the night.

The couples initially facing elimination in this week's episode of Dancing With The Stars included contestants Vernon Davis and Peta Murgatroyd, Anne Heche and Keo Motsepe, and Chrishell Stause and Gleb Savchenko.

Tyra Banks first told Anne and Keo, and Peta and Vernon, that they were the ones in the bottom two. She then quickly realized there was an error and clarified that the bottom two couples included Anne and Keo, and Monica Aldama and Val Chmerkovskiy. By this time, Monica and Val thought they were safe and had already left. They had to return to the stage.

A shot showed judge Derek Hough with a very confused face. In the beginning, no one was sure where the error first originated, but the show had to go on.

Since the clock was still running on a live television show, Banks rushed the judges to decide who was going home. She even interrupted judge Carrie Ann Inaba to remind her they needed a quick answer. Carrie decided to save Monica and Val. Derek then made a remark remembering Oscars 2017 when the wrong Best Picture Winner was announced as La La Land instead of Moonlight.

Hough still couldn't decide who to save because he stated that he loved both of them. Banks had to remind him as well that the producers were pushing all of them to make it quick, so he finally saved Monica and Val. This meant Anne and Keo were eliminated from the show.

Though the episode was one to remember for the contestants' performances, in this case, the blunder was the most memorable and talked-about moment.

In this video, judge Bruno Tonioli was explained that the mistake was not Tyra's fault because she was getting conflicting information.

He says, "Tyra really managed it very, very well because she was having information that didn't match the printout. So there must have gotten the order wrong because the margin is so small and they printed from what she was actually being told."

Tyra Banks replaced former judges, Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews in 2020.

Tyra Banks is a professional and understands these things happen. She handled it and moved on. Even though it caused confusion, the judges all agreed on the two to save. What did you think about this story? Be sure to tell your friends and give us your opinions
