With all of the recent snowstorms hitting the world, imagine yourself trapped inside of it with no shelter. You’re buried in the snow, and there’s no one around to help you escape it.

For one creature, this became a reality one cold January day. It can be scary to find yourself in a situation that you don't know how to get out of. Thankfully, some heroes were there to save the day for this beautiful animal when he became trapped in the snow.

Workers of the Austrian Federal Railways were working hard cleaning off the train tracks and freeing them of snow and other debris from the harsh weather when something unusual happened. They spotted an animal standing alongside the tracks, but he was quickly overtaken by snow and became stuck underneath.

What was the animal? None other than a chamois (a breed of antelope-goat). While they were working, the goat didn’t want to leave the side of the tracks as the train was rapidly nearing the animal. Although the train honked, the animal still would not budge.

The train was unable to stop quickly enough to avoid completely burying the animal in the snow, but the workers are thankful that they noticed the poor animal.

The workers knew that they could not leave this animal to fend for itself after what just happened. After closing down what they were working on, two of the workers jumped from the train and were ready to rescue the chamois with their shovels. As fast as possible, they started digging through the snow.

Thanks to the rescue efforts of the workers, they saw more and more of the chamois coming out of the snow that he had become trapped in. After some more digging, the chamois was able to pull himself out of the snow and find shelter in a forest that was nearby.

Rescue efforts were recorded by other workers, and now everyone is sharing the video in order to learn a lesson from it: compassion for all, even animals. People are praising the workers as heroes for their efforts to save the trapped animal and are very proud that they didn’t leave the chamois to fend for itself.

“A heroic act!” One of the many commenters praised them in German on Twitter.
