Roberta’s daughter told authorities about Roberta’s medical condition and that she believed she had gotten lost on her walk, as a result of becoming confused during her walk. Roberta, her daughter, granddaughter and great-granddaughter all lived in the same home.

Soon after the urgent call was placed to the police of Charles County, authorities were sent to find Roberta. Roberta’s daughter was told that her mom would be found. The policemen succeeded in doing just that. A total of five officers were sent to search for Roberta. Within forty-five minutes she had been located. She was spotted walking calmly in the other direction near the forest.

One of the officers called out to her and she responded back to him. As they approached her, the officers noticed that there were broken twigs in her hair. They proceeded to remove them from her hair. As a result, Roberta was confused as to why they were initially there.

The officers chose not to tell her that she had gotten lost or that her daughter was looking for her. Instead, they just told her that they were out on a walk just as she was. They didn’t want to embarrass or confuse her any more than she already was.

While holding her hand, Officer Morrison walked her to the police car. As they were walking, the officers continued to talk to Roberta to make her feel comfortable with them. They discussed the issues of life while taking note of how active Roberta was at her age. The officers asked her what allowed her to live a long healthy life. They asked her what her magic secret was. Roberta’s response was simple. She told them all they had to do was eat good and stay active.

From what the officers could tell, Roberta had walked a far distance from her home. Once inside the car they immediately returned her safely back home. After returning home, Roberta insisted that it had been no big deal. She told her daughter that she was fine and that she had been walking with the nice police officers. The Sergeant further explained that they were all happy to bring her home safely.

A picture was taken by Sergeant Black of Officer Morrison and Roberta walking as they were holding hands. Officer Morrison shared that he was very close to his grandmother and that he enjoyed talking with someone older than himself who has already experience a big portion of life. The photo that was taken by Sergeant Black has gone viral over the internet obtaining over 222,000 likes. The gesture performed by these police officers was beautiful.

When was the last time you talked to the elderly? This is a beautiful story that you can tell your loved ones.
