Most often than not, women who dream of building a family want to have children of their own. Sadly, some women struggle to get pregnant. There are those who need to wait months or even years before their dreams of carrying a child inside their wombs happen, no matter how hard they try.

Then again, there are also those who get lucky and fulfill their lifelong wish – and sometimes, it’s all about waiting for the right time. But what are the chances of two women from the same town with almost the same struggle of bearing children, getting pregnant with the same number of babies, and giving birth in the same year from happening?

Well, that is exactly what happened to two women from Phoenix, Arizona, in 2017 when they both gave birth to quadruplets in what could be one of the rarest moments to happen to two mothers in a single town.

Kylie Szafranski and Virginia Johnson struggled to have children, with the latter having been diagnosed with a disease that almost stopped her from getting pregnant and both women suffered several miscarriages, according to Metro UK.

In 2013, Johnson found out that she had bladder cancer after she went through an ectopic pregnancy, or a pregnancy that “occurs when a fertilized egg implants and grows outside the main cavity of the uterus,” as defined by Mayo Clinic.

According to the Daily Mail, Johnson had her right fallopian tube removed when she was still a teenager. Doctors also told her about the possibility of having her left tube removed to prevent the spread of the disease.

The diagnosis left her devastated as she found out that fears that she would no longer bear children came over her.

Thankfully, Johnson still got pregnant after she went and tried in vitro fertilization (IVF). So in 2014, she gave birth to her daughter Zoey.

Johnson and her husband tried to get pregnant again. But to their surprise, they welcomed four children: three girls and one boy. They named the girls Ava, Olivia and Madelyn while they named the boy after his father, Victor Jr.

Szafranski, on the other hand, gave birth to three boys and one girl. She and her husband named them Damon, Gideon, Theo and Emery. Szafranski has an older son named River.

Szafranski admitted it took some time before the fact that she had quadruplets settled in.

"Shock, definitely a lot of shock," she said. "It's real now, they're here, it's real tangible ... tiny humans,” Szafranski told FOX 10 Phoenix.

Meanwhile, Szafranski shared her reaction when she found out about Johnson’s case.

"I had my four, and then just over a week later I saw on the local news that a woman in my area had given birth to quadruplets too,” she told Mirror.

Szafranski and Johnson met through a Facebook group for mothers and started messaging each other there. Since then, the parents and their kids have remained good friends.

In 2018, both quadruplets marked their first birthdays with a cake smash where they lined up in rainbow-colored outfits with rainbow-colored cakes. Szafranski also shared an adorable Christmas photo featuring both quadruplets that same year.

Even though they are growing up fast, the bond between the quadruplets remains strong — even going on vacations together, as seen in photos shared by their parents on social media. And by the looks of it, all of them will remain good friends until the end. Fingers crossed!
