Two Fearful Pit Bulls Huddled Together At Shelter On Their Way To Better Future

Often times, life puts you through the wringer before getting you to a place where you feel happy and safe. Such was the case for two pit bulls in Texas. Staff at Conroe’s Montgomery County Animal Shelter knew from the start that the two dogs that were dropped off at their facility had had a hard life.

The animals were frightened by their new surroundings and showed signs of neglect, with notably matted fur and mange. The staff named the two dogs, who wouldn’t stop cuddling with each other, Bridget and Louie.

While animals are usually separated when they are brought to the shelter, staff members felt that Bridget and Louie would do better if they were kept together. Upon further examination, the staff became concerned that the two sweet pups had been used by dogfighters. Bridget’s upper teeth were ground down to her gums, a sign that she had either been chewing on a metal chain for a long time or that her teeth were intentionally filed down.

Many dogfighters file down the teeth of females so they cannot harm male dogs during breeding or if the animal is used as a bait dog. A barbed-wire collar also dug-in at the skin around Louie’s neck. Upon learning of what happened to Bridget and Louie from the animal shelter’s website, the Texas Animal Society stepped-in and found the two sweet animals a foster home.

After arriving at their new residence, Bridget and Louie quickly fell in love with their new surroundings, cuddling each other on the couch and making friends with their foster siblings. The two even got in the habit of sunning themselves on the family’s porch, their tails wagging non-stop.

Feeling loved and happy for the first time in their lives, Bridget and Louie got the thrill of a lifetime when the Texas Animal Society was able to find the sweet babies a forever home.

The two amazing dogs are now social media stars as thousands of Facebook users follow their story on The Adventures of Bridget and Louie page. In the past several months, visitors loved hearing of Louie making friends at a doggy daycare and Bridget entering Canine Good Citizen school.

Above all, however, visitors love seeing the two dogs spending time together and forming an incredible bond of friendship.
