Twins Cry In Different Beds, So Mother Let's Inseparable Siblings Sleep Together

Knowing the right things to do as a parent can be difficult. It seems like all of the advice out there can be contradictory and may not work for everyone. This becomes an issue when it involves something as important as sleep.

One mom of twin boys was advised not to let her babies sleep in the same crib, but whenever she separated them, they screamed and cried until reunited. Brenna Grund is a mother of four boys, and her 8-month-old twins, Lane and Lennox, hate to be apart from each other.

The twin babies have been through a lot. They had to spend time in the NICU, and both ended up with a series of colds — among other challenges. Through it all, they have only slept apart once. Being close to one another, holding hands and cuddling seems very soothing for the babies, and so every time they are separated, they become very upset and agitated.

For this reason, the mom lets the twins sleep together, even though the American Pediatric Association does not recommend siblings sleeping together because it might increase the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. The Grund twins have been sleeping together their entire lives and seem to get better rest that way, according to their mom. She said that if they slept better apart, then she would keep them separated, and that when they get a little older, they will have to sleep in separate beds.

The moms that commented on Brenna’s video agreed that whatever helps the babies sleep better is what is best for them. Keep reading to hear more from this mother and to see what other commenters had to say.

The TikTok where Brenna explains why Lane and Lennox sleep together is a reply to a commenter's question. The caption reads: “My kids scream and wont stop. They aren't ready (and) I wish people would not be so quick to judge.”

The video shows the babies sleeping peacefully together and then screaming and crying when separated. Brenna does not believe in the “cry it out” method of sleep training, so she lets them continue sleeping together.

“My heart broke separating them so I took them out after a few minutes of not calming down and put them in bed next to each other, and they fell asleep within two minutes,” she explained

The mom also explained that when the boys get bigger, they will be separated, but for now this is how they sleep best. “It's very soothing and calming for them to cuddle each other, hold hands, and it's just something that they are used to, '' Brenna said.

The twins are comforted by each other's presence, and their deep connection is clearly visible.

“I can't say it enough. Their bond is something only a twin can understand. It's so incredible as their mom to watch,” Brenna shared

The majority of commenters were in support of Brenna’s decision. One person wrote, “Why would anyone want to separate them? They have built in comfort with each other. I’m jealous. Of course you should let them cuddle and be happy!!”

Another parent added, “My twins don’t sleep together because they always wake each other up…. BUT if they slept better together I 100% would support it! Do whatever works!”
