Twin Sisters Who Were Well-Known For Getting 'Cut In Half' In 2006 Are Currently Existing As Separate Teenagers

Kendra Herrin and Maliyah Herrin were born on February 26, 2002 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They shared a bladder, one kidney, a large intestine, and a liver. Separating them was considered, but their parents, Erin and Jake, knew that separation would be extremely risky. Despite that risk, however, doctors separated the twins back in 2006. Since then, the twins have been the subject of a documentary, started their own YouTube channel, and gained attention across the United States.

When Erin Herrin was pregnant, some doctors even suggested aborting the twins, according to Ninja Journalist. One doctor told them the twins couldn’t survive on their own. He claimed they didn’t have the organs they needed to survive. However, the twins were born and grew.

Kendra and Maliya appeared on international headlines when they were separated at the age of four. They were the first set of conjoined twins to be separated while sharing a single kidney, according to The Telegraph.

When they went into the surgery, they didn’t have the greatest odds. However, the 16-hour-long procedure was a complete success. The twins now had to learn how to live in separate bodies.

Sisters Kendra and Maliya are now living in Salt Lake City, Utah. The sisters are strong and confident women who have learned how to live in separate bodies. They are 18 years old. Each sister has one leg.
