Betty White was honored on September 18, 2018, at the Primetime Emmy Awards. The 96-year-old actress received the award for being the longest running actor or actress on television ever.

The actress who really needs no introduction was welcomed to the stage by Alec Baldwin and Kate McKinnon. She brought laughs from the crowd when she paused long enough for Baldwin to kiss her hand remarking, "you think I'm going to miss a chance when I get it?"

Betty White then goes on to tell the story of running into a lady recently who was talking to her daughter about Betty White's remarkable career. Betty says that she heard the mother tell her daughter later that "First lady, yes, she's that old, she was the first one, way, way back."

Betty spent most of her speech praising the work of Lorne Michaels. She also thanked the crowd for putting up with her for so long. White has had an illustrative career winning five Primetime Emmy Awards for her work.

The last of those Primetime Emmy Awards came in 2010 when she won for being the best guest actress on a comedy show for her appearance on Saturday Night Live. Ahead of that, she won a Primetime Emmy Award for her appearance in the John Larroquette Show.

Her only Emmy for her work in Golden Girls occurred in 1986 when she won the leading actress award. Her first awards came in 1975 when she won an award for being the best-supporting-actress on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and when she won the same award a year later.
