Try These Four Tips To Calm Down When You Are Very Stressed Out

Jun 05, 2018 by apost team

We all feel stressed out at one time or another. However, if you feel as though you are stressing out more often than not, it may be time to look into different ways to calm down.

Read on for four easy ways to de-stress when you are feeling the weight of the world on your shoulders!

1. Be In The Present

Your thoughts are the main problem of your stress. When you become conscious of your thoughts and worries, you will be one step closer to getting the feeling under control.

Remind yourself that constantly worrying about the problem at hand isn’t making the situation any better.

As soon as you start to feel stressed out, remember-you have all the power!

You can choose to wallow in stress and let it control you or you can let go of the stress and feel better about yourself.

2. Take A Deep Breath

It sounds like such a silly, easy thing. But taking the time to take a deep breath can actually lessen your stress quickly. You may notice that being stressed out causes you to take short, shallow breaths, making the situation worse.

If you need a little more help, take a break. Sit or lie down and then close your eyes. Take as many breaths as you need to calm down and feel better.

3. Play Relaxing Music

The same way as loud, energetic music can get you going, calm, soothing music can make you slow down and relax. You’ll feel less stressed and anxious, making you more creative when you are ready to go.

Listen to music in the shower before work, while you are stuck in slow-moving traffic, at work (if you are allowed), and any other time you want to relax.

4. Take A Hike

Walking out in the great outdoors is a natural stress reliever. Walking in nature will lift your mood, de-clutter your brain, help you unwind, and generally just put you in a better mood.

If you enjoy running or jogging, this is also a great time to go for a jaunt! Your stress will melt away as you concentrate on your run.

There are other ways to de-stress that aren’t in these four tips, such as reading, talking to a loved one, aromatherapy, taking a bubble bath, napping, and many more. What is most important is paying attention to your thoughts and feelings when you are stressed and finding out what strategy works best for you.
