Jawlines play a huge role in beauty, and unfortunately, not all of us were born with or can maintain the chiseled faces of Hollywood. Before you resort to options like invasive surgeries and expensive creams to help you get rid of that double chin, you should try facial yoga. These exercises target chin fat to remove excess baggage and sculpt your face. And, unlike surgical options, there’s zero risk, cost, or loss of work involved.

Facial yoga takes up mere minutes of your day and is safe, easy, and effective for double chins. Make these exercises part of your morning and evening routine to see the results:

1. The Swish

Just as you would swish mouthwash around in your mouth, fill your mouth with air instead and transfer the air from one cheek to the other. Do the swish for around 10 minutes. You’ll feel your cheek and neck muscles working and toning up as you do the swish facial yoga move up to five times a day.

2. Tongue Out

Stick your tongue out; do you feel the tension in your chin? This is by far one of the best facial yogas to say goodbye and good riddance to the double chin. Begin by opening wide and sticking your tongue out as far as you can before slowly retracting it back into your mouth. Close and repeat for 20 times. Do tongue out yoga twice a day.

3. Chin Up

Don’t panic. There’s no pull-up bar involved. Begin with your spine straight and feet slightly apart. Keep your shoulders down as you tilt your head so that your face is parallel to the ceiling. Don’t overextend; you’ll feel the slight stretch in the front of your neck and chin. Hold a few seconds before slowly returning your head to look forward. Repeat for 10 reps several times a day. If you have spine, neck, or joint issues, consult your healthcare provider before doing the chin up facial exercises.

4. Smile It Out

Smiling is a natural way to boost your mood since the action alone can often cause the release of happy hormones, but it’s also a fantastic fix for the double chin and to tone cheeks. Simply sit down and smile as widely as possible. You’ll feel your cheeks engage and neck muscles lift and tighten with the action. Hold the smile for 10 seconds before relaxing your face. Repeat five times at least twice a day.

5. Jaw Release

If you’ve noticed, the cheeks are also targeted in many facial yoga poses. This is because toned cheeks provide the lift needed for prominent jawlines and chins. Jaw releases help to stretch the tiny muscles around the lips, mouth, and jaw. Begin by pretending you’re chewing up something with your lips closed. Stop and open wide with your tongue firmly pressed to the bottom teeth. Hold for a few seconds before releasing to a natural resting face. Repeat the jaw release five times at least twice a day.

6. Neck Roll

You can sit or stand, but make sure your spine is aligned, shoulders are back, and the core is tight. Nothing aside from your neck should move as you begin to slowly rotate it in a wide circle. Continue for five minutes. Perform at least twice a day. Again, if you have a spinal, joint, or neck issue, do consult your healthcare provider before performing neck rolls.

7. Fishy Face

So, the fishy face may be a laughable selfie fad, but the same premise makes for great fat removal of the chin. Simply suck in your cheeks and lips as much as you can to make a pouty fish face. Begin the neck roll from above. Repeat several times a day. Be careful as you form the fishy face if you have braces or dental work that can scratch your gums. And, the same healthcare provider caution remains for neck rolls.
