Trickster Baby Fakes Sleep And His Humorous Ruse Earns Internet Fame

Back in 2013, baby Benjamin's mom captured him fake sleeping and the video went viral. The video, which recently resurfaced, now has over eight million views.

Any parent who has ever had a child can tell how hard it can be to put your baby to sleep. Our little ones simply don’t understand when its time for bed. They think that they are being left out of the fun and they get so mad! This is not a problem that this little guy has, though. Our man has already got the game all figured out.

He’s definitely an adorable fella but let’s face the facts here: even the cutest babies are quite deceitful. They know how to use their cute faces to get what they want out of their parents. After all, we are wrapped around their little fingers. This is the story of a baby who knows it and used it to get his own way.

Take a look at this little boy. He appears to be sleeping soundly at the moment. We can relate to that moment of peace when your little one is asleep and you can finally enjoy a semblance of normalcy. Benjamin may have only been a few months old when he pulled this incredible ruse on his mother but he’s a smart cookie. His trickster game is already strong!

This is not the first time that Benjamin has done such things. He’s been pulling these types of pranks on Mom for some time now. At times, he would appear to be asleep but then he would wake right back up.

So, Mama finally decided that she was going to catch him in the act. It was getting harder and harder for her to tell when he was sleeping and when he was awake. That’s why she grabbed her phone and started doing some detective work.

Finally, a day came along where she could tell what he was trying to pull. When she took out her phone to record him, she knew that she would have to be very strategic. At first, she called out the child’s name very slowly. Of course, Benjamin was too smart to react. He wasn’t going to fall for the oldest trick in the book.

Mom was watching him closely and she could tell that the boy was trying a bit too hard to stifle a laugh. She called his name again and this time, his eyelids started to move. He was attempting to remain asleep but it was getting harder and harder to do so.

If we had to guess, we would have to assume that he was trying his best to sneak a peek without his mother having the chance to notice. That’s when Mom decided to take a closer look at what the baby was doing.

At this moment, Benjamin’s eyes started to open a bit. He couldn’t keep the ruse alive any longer. As his mouth starts to contort into a smile, the full scale of his scheme becomes obvious. He may have suspected that he was caught but he was not going to give up without a good fight.

Mom asked him if was a “smiley boy” and the rest is history. It did not take long for the video to go viral once it was posted on YouTube. To date, it has received over eight million views and over 327,000 likes. “He's gonna drive mom nuts when he has to get up and go to school and he fakes her out,” said one commentator.

According to their YouTube 'About' page, Benjamin is seven years old now and an avid dirt bike rider. Is he going to try out the same fake sleeping routine, in hopes of catching a glimpse of the Tooth Fairy? Only time will tell but his behaviors go a long way towards proving a certain hypothesis. Scientists believe that babies can be sneaky before they even learn to talk.
