Traveling By Yourself Does Not Have To Be Lonely
Aug 07, 2019 by apost team
Being a solo female traveler still comes with a lot of stereotypical looks and remarks. Most people assume that if a woman is traveling alone, then she must be a loner or a loser. Some may even believe she is traveling due to heartbreak. This stereotype is still going strong after the success of the book and movie “Eat, Pray, Love.”
However, there are many other reasons as to why a woman would wish to travel on her own.

She may be curious about other cultures or looking to enrich her life. Many women may even be in a relationship or married when they set out on their own. Some have partners who are not as interested in travel as they are, so they decide that it is up to them to see the world one way or another.

Traveling on your own is one of the most rewarding things you could ever do. Sure, it can be scary and dangerous, but it can also be enriching and freeing. Your life will never be the same after you have set out on your own. You may even experience a life-changing event when you travel solo.
Let’s first look at the fear involved with traveling solo. Yes, disaster could strike while you are out on your own, or you could even catch a bad virus and end up in the local hospital. You may have to deal with unfamiliar places, language barriers, different social scenes, and other legitimate concerns.

These are valid worries that we know won’t go away. But tackling these fears and overcoming them all by yourself is one of the most rewarding feelings ever. You may even get over some fears that you didn’t know you had!
Imagine being in Tokyo on your own, at a local sushi bar. As you sit amongst all of the other Japanese men and women and you aren't sure what to order with a steep language barrier.

If you take a deep breath and order a couple of dishes from the menu that looked good, the result can be a beautiful dinner in a place that remains in your memory forever. By yourself, you can focus on every single bite while taking in the sights, sounds, and smells surrounding you.
Being by yourself, you don't have to keep up a conversation or worry about what your dinner companions think. When you are somewhere on your own, you can easily focus on the experience you are having at the moment.

Sure, you could have easily stayed in your room and called up room service ordered something familiar, like a ham and cheese sandwich on white bread. You could have pulled up Netflix and watched Breaking Bad while you ate on your bed.
But what fun would that have been?
Instead, you can make a memory that would stay forever. Even though it was nothing more than eating some delicious sushi in a foreign place, you can come to the realization that being by yourself is not that bad.

Remember- that is the key to enjoying life no matter where or what you are doing! Living in the moment allows you to really enjoy life for all that it is. When you are traveling alone, it is much easier to live in the moment than if you were surrounded by noisy family and friends.

Being alone means that you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do. You don't have to stick to a schedule set up by your significant other or friend.
You can sleep in as long as you want. You can jump up in the middle of the night and head to the all-night diner to enjoy something new off of the menu. You only have to follow your own set of rules. It is an amazingly liberating experience that every woman should enjoy as much as possible!

You may not be able to head to a foreign land or take the time away from your family. That’s okay, too. Even taking a day for yourself and heading out to a museum or the hottest new restaurant can be an adventure you won’t soon forget.
Whatever your situation, don’t ever be afraid or embarrassed to go at it alone. You’ll have a much better time than you could possibly imagine!
