Transgender Father Gives Birth To A Healthy Son, He Raises & Cares For Him On His Own

Over the course of history, men and women were seen as capable of raising children. And over time, these perceptions toward gender-based parenting have changed as anyone can be a parent as long as the intentions are good, regardless of gender identity. But have you ever imagined a man carrying a child inside his womb? Well, a transgender man did just that. Now, he is happily living his life with his baby boy, proving his haters wrong as he navigates a new world as a father raising a beautiful child that he himself gave birth to.

In January 2023, Ta’Nius Posey, a transgender man, opened up about his journey to becoming a father after he received backlash for his breastfeeding videos.

Just like most seahorse dads or a term often used to describe transgender men since they carry their own babies, Posey carried his own child named Za’Nius.

But how exactly did it all start? Well, Posey always knew “something was off” early on in his life but admitted that he “never knew exactly what it was.” Until one day, he realized that he wanted to be male. So, he sought the help of a co-worker.

Posey had been transitioning for six years when he found out that he was pregnant with his first child as a transgender man. He officially gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Za’Nius in January 2022. She has three other kids, twin girls named Avayonica and Kabrianna and a teenage boy named Elijah. While they aren’t his blood, he said he still loves them all the same.

Posey said he wanted to tell his story to the world through his videos to let his fellow seahorse dads know that they are not alone in their own journeys.

“I share my pregnancy and nursing journey in hopes to be able to help others feel comfortable and know that you’re not alone not everyone is ok with our lifestyle and that’s ok we’re not here to please anyone but ourselves,” Posey remarked.

But people weren’t happy about him being both a mother and a father to his child, revealing that he received comments such as “You do not belong on earth,” “Men don’t carry babies,” and "Go ahead and go back to where you came from” in one of his TikTok videos.

Some people even went as far as saying that his child, Za’Nius, will grow up corrupt, unhealthy, and confused because he doesn’t have both parents to raise him.

“Somebody said he’s gonna resent me once he finds out that I carried him, and he’s gonna be so confused or whatnot because he doesn’t have a mom and dad,” he said.

In the same interview, Posey told his fellow seahorse dads that there is no need to feel shame in utilizing what they’ve got to give the child everything, encouraging them to breastfeed their own children as well.

“I’ve got the parts to be able to (breastfeed). Just because I transitioned does not mean I stripped myself from wanting to give my child nutrients,” he said in an interview with Truly.

While the backlash got him really bad in the beginning, he said he decided to continue to help others who are going through the same thing.

Leaving a message to his bashers, he said: “My response to the haters is that we gotta stop living under a rock, we’ve gotta open up our eyes and realize there’s more than one way to live.”
