She was known as "the People's Princess" because of her sense of humanity, and she was a special world figure to both common people and the royalty. Prince Harry and William are generally liked by the public. One possible reason for this is that they have followed the example of the beloved Princess Diana, their mother.

She observed some special traditions to improve aspects of society and partake in charitable and philanthropic endeavors as detailed here at Time magazine. Through the actions of William and Harry, one can see the influence of the legendary princess.

Harry and William have given some of their time to continuing Diana's work toward fighting the worldwide HIV pandemic. Harry still makes trips to Africa to continue the work that his mother was doing there.

Fans of the royals are likely to remember another significant tradition that was upheld by William when he proposed to his current wife, the Duchess of Cambridge. He chose to use Diana's wedding ring as the engagement ring for his bride-to-be.

Harry also played a role in the legacy, because he chose to receive Diana's wedding ring when she passed away. When William was getting ready for marriage, Harry gave the ring to his brother for the occasion. It made both of the princes happy to see their mother's wedding ring on Kate's finger.

Here are several other traditions of Princess Diana that her sons still uphold today.

  • Princess Diana lived at Kensington Palace when she died. When the boys grew up, they left their father's quarters and moved into the palace where their mother used to live.
  • William and Kate used the same decorator company for their nursery that Diana used for William's nursery.

  • William and Kate hired Jessie Webb as a caretaker for their children, and she was the same one hired by Diana for them.
  • William and Harry chose the same photographer that their mother hired for some of their own photos.
  • Diana was known to eat at McDonald's on occasions, and Harry has been spotted there as well.
