Remember when they said animals could have a great connection with human beings? Well, a former SWAT officer from Grovetown, Georgia has the perfect idea of what that special connection with an animal feels like.

At first sight, you wouldn’t think Cardenaz would be capable of having unique relationships as he appears tough from his tattoos, built muscles and a shaved head.

His former attachment with SWAT makes the appearance and personality even bolder. On the contrary, the former officer is capable of nurturing a sweet connection with a hummingbird he once saved.

He remembers the day he met the hummingbird like it was yesterday. While he had been used to seeing the wonderfully colored birds near his entryway patio, he never knew one of them would become his close companion. One day as he went about his business, he noticed one of the hummingbirds had been struggling to fly.

It looked like it had harmed itself with several feathers detached from its wings. Cardenaz took it in and began taking care of it until it began re-growing wings.

At the time, the hummingbird was about eight weeks old and still so tender. Although an eight weeks old bird seems small, Cardenaz stated that it would consume a lot to help it grow as well as regain the lost energy after injury. Gradually, it started to flourish and would eventually stand on its own and flap its wings.

Since he became part of Cardenaz’ family, he went ahead to name the newest member “Buzz.”

Within no time Buzz had regained the energy and full ability to fly around the yards to other birds. It would then return home to its savior during the off-winter seasons and go back to nature during the winter seasons.

It's been four years since Cardenaz saved the hummingbird. Surprisingly, in all those four years Buzz returns home annually.

Cardenaz was proud to have nurtured this special and unique connection with Buzz and holds it with so much pride. He posted on his Facebook page that Buzz and his friend Hummer showed up at his home for two years since the special relationship began. Sadly, Hummer failed to show up in the third year, but Cardenaz hopes that it will find its way home in the fourth year.
