Tornadoes can be devastating to those whose homes have been hit by one. In the wake of such disasters can come miracles, as what happened to a mother and her two kids when their dream home got hit. Although their home was destroyed, these fortunate souls made it out without a scratch.

"We planned this house for a long time, we weren't here very long, but it's just stuff, it's just stuff, we're safe, and that's all that matters," remarked Rachel, the mother who was with her two kids during the frightening disaster, accroding to KFSM Fort Smith.

The setting is Siloam Smith, Arkansas. This is the place where Rachel Smith, along with her husband, built their dream home a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, that's about as long as it will last.

October 2019, Rachel received a weather warning about an EF-2 tornado coming their way. It just so happens that Rachel's husband was out of town at the time. It was just her, the kids, and the tornado.

Upon receiving the severe weather alert on her phone, she grabbed her kids and hid in the master closet. They all sat there, terrified as the tornado finally arrived.

Rachel details the situation as "very loud." She was there holding her kids as all three of them prayed and prayed for protection from the natural disaster. Walls were tumbling down and the roof was torn away. And then, after what Rachel describes as almost a century later, things quiet down.

Once the tornado was gone, the house had been completely destroyed. All except one room: the master closet that Rachel and her kids were hiding in. Soon after this devastating destruction, Rachel's neighbors came over to check and see if everyone was okay.

Thankfully, they all were. Although their home was totaled, Rachel was glad that she and her kids were fine. Rachel and her family weren't in their home long, but as she said, "it's just stuff."

To Smith, that closet isn't just a closet anymore. It's a room that saved her family's life. For the next few days, Rachel and her family spent time getting as much of their things as they can before the next storms hit the following weekend.
