Tony Bennett Celebrated By Elton John, Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder And More Stars On 94th Birthday

Musician Tony Bennett has just celebrated his 94th birthday, and with a little help from his friends, he's been able to feel honored through their lovely well wishes. Famous pals like Elton John, Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, and many more showered Bennett with birthday wishes in order to celebrate his special day.

Tony celebrated his 94th birthday this past Monday, August 3, and his team had a special idea in store. They tweeted asking for fans to send their birthday messages and which album of Tony's they were playing to celebrate. Well, Tony must have had a lovely surprise, because it wasn't just any of his fans that tweeted birthday wishes, but some of the most famous and loved musicians ever! Everyone from Elton John and Stevie Wonder, to Lady Gaga and Queen Latifah! We definitely thought Tony was a great guy, but seeing the love pour out for him all but confirms it. 

Stevie Wonder shared a sweet post with a video of himself, reminding Tony that "#TheBestIsYetToCome"—the hashtag references Tony's hit of the same name. Meanwhile Elton John wrote:

"Happy Birthday @itstonybennett! Thank you for spreading so much joy throughout my lifetime. Sending you all my love - E xx"

Musician Billy Joel, another famous friend, also shared a personal message for Tony, writing:

"To my good friend, @itstonybennett - Thank you for bringing the songs I wrote to such glorious life. Happy Birthday! Love, Billy Joel"

And not to simply make this a list of some of the greatest musicians of our time, but Elvis Costello also tweeted Tony a birthday message—Tony really has some great friends! He wrote:

"Happy Birthday, @itstonybennett

You have made the world a better place and we will sit like this again, one day.

You are the best and #TheBestIsYetToCome

With much affection and respect. Elvis Costello"

In April, Tony participated in a virtual sing-along in support of frontline workers. During the performance, he encouraged those watching to go outside or open their windows and sing I Left My Heart in San Francisco, a signature song of Tony's

For his 90th birthday four years ago, Tony was honored with an NBC special filmed at Radio City Music Hall in New York titled Tony Bennett Celebrates 90, which featured a number of celebrity guests including Lady Gaga, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Willis, and Alec Baldwin. 

At that time Tony spoke to People Magazine and said: "I'm still wide awake! My doctor likes to kick me out of his office and say, 'There's nothing wrong with you—don't bother me!"

We wish Tony Bennett the happiest of birthdays and hope to see him celebrating just as loudly as he is on this birthday, in the years to come.
