Legendary American actor Tom Selleck is best known for his roles in hits like “Magnum, P.I.,” “Three Men and a Baby,” and “Blue Bloods.” His signature mustache and rugged charm made him a pop culture icon.

In 2024, Tom said goodbye to his beloved character, Frank Reagan, as his 14-year-long journey with the popular television show “Blue Bloods” ended. The show was canceled, and its series finale, “End of Tour,” aired on Dec. 13, 2024.

Though the former “Friends” star and his colleagues voiced their disappointment over CBS’ decision to end the long-running crime series, the actor expressed he would embrace new opportunities while reflecting on the experience.

In an exclusive chat with Parade, Tom gave a glimpse into his plans for the holiday season on his magnificent 65-acre avocado ranch in California.

Tom lives there with his wife, Jillie Mack, and daughter, Hannah Selleck. It’s worth mentioning that the star is also a step-father to his stepson, Kevin Shepard.

Tom gave insights into how his family celebrates the year-end holidays, revealing they “had a ritual at the ranch for years.”

“It’s an old hunting lodge that was built in 1910. All the Selleck family, my brothers and sisters, my mom and dad, we’d all open presents in the lodge and then go over to the house and have dinner,” he said.

He added: “It’s gotten impossible because my mom and dad are gone and my brothers and sisters all had kids and now they have kids. We’d need to rent a hall.”

In the interview, Tom also revealed some personal details about himself, sharing: “I’m not much of a vegetable guy.”

“I was a very fussy eater as a kid. I was afraid to spend the night over at a friend’s house because I was afraid of what they’d have for dinner. I grew up on a pretty simple diet,” he explained.

Tom also elaborated on his family’s festive traditions:

“Christmas is something for Jillie and Hannah and me, really. Maybe we go to one of my brothers’ or my sister’s house for a while, but mainly it’s family time just for us.”

When asked ahead of his 80th birthday, which he celebrated on Jan. 29, 2025, if he had any special plans, he replied: “None whatsoever. I’m trying not to count. I stopped celebrating birthdays a while back.”

He continued:

“I intend to keep working. I’ll probably have dinner with maybe my brother and my sister and Jillie, just go out to dinner, kind of be quiet and not make a big deal of it.”

Although the star joked that he would be “unemployed” following the end of his long-running role on “Blue Bloods,” he made it clear that he was far from retiring from the acting scene.

He said he was also open to expanding the “Blue Bloods” universe with a potential spin-off, or even reprising his titular role in the series “Jesse Stone” in more TV films based on the character.

“I wouldn’t say (offers) are pouring in, but maybe some people are thinking of me,” Tom shared.

The seasoned actor also expressed a strong desire to continue pursuing new roles, with a particular interest in exploring more Western projects, which align with his love for the genre.

“A good Western’s always on my list. I miss that; I want to sit on a horse again,” he exclaimed.

One thing is guaranteed: This is just the end of one chapter in his career, as Tom is eager to dive into fresh opportunities and keep entertaining his loyal fans.
