The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced this week that they are proud to honor the 63-year-old with the 2020 Cecil B DeMille award.

Soria went on to express the association's admiration for the actor.

“For more than three decades, he’s captivated audiences with rich and playful characters that we’ve grown to love and admire,” he said.

The eight-time Golden Globes winner and 15-time nominee proved to be a force to be reckoned with in Hollywood with his 1988 film, Big. He has since starred in a variety of hit films such as Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, and Cast Away.

The website describes the award as one that is “given annually to a talented individual who has made a lasting impact on the film industry.”

The award is also known to be used recently as a platform to for actors to advocate and discuss political issues. Oprah Winfrey, for example, used the platform last year to talk about female empowerment and racial equality.

"For too long women have not been heard or believed if they dared to speak their truth to the power of those men," she said, as per BBC. "But their time is up."
