Tom Hanks is known for his Oscar-worthy acting, but also for carrying out benevolent acts. The star has never let fame get to his head, and has always showed kindness and compassion to those who have reached out to him.

An 8-year-old boy from Australia, named Corona, who was getting bullied for his name, wrote a letter to Hanks. Hanks didn't hesitate to write him back and sent him a typewriter as a present.

Corona De Vries is from the Gold Coast in Australia. He decided to write to the Hollywood star after he saw on the news that Hanks and his wife, Rita, tested positive for COVID-19 whilst they were in Australia and had to quarantine there for over two weeks.

7 News reported the boy wrote in his letter, "I heard on the news you and your wife had caught the coronavirus... Are you ok?" He then went on to say he loved his name but some of the kids at his school had been calling him the coronavirus, which made him "sad and angry."

In response the 63-year-old actor sent the boy one of his precious Corona-brand typewriters, which he traveled to Australia with. Hanks is a huge fan of typewriters. 7 News reports he told the boy:

"You know, you are the only person I've ever known to have the name Corona – like the ring around the sun, a crown... I thought this typewriter would suit you. Ask a grown up how it works. And use it to write me back."

Hanks also went on to tell Corona, "You got a friend in ME," referring to the Pixar movie "Toy Story." His generosity of heart shows that bullies will never beat kindness, and we can all take a leaf out of Tom Hank's book when it comes to cheering people up and making others feel better.
