Tom Hanks Says He Does Not Always Live Up To His "Nice Guy" Reputation In An Interview

Although Tom Hanks has the reputation of being Hollywood's 'nicest guy,' he admits that he's not always a ray of sunshine. The actor who recently took home a Lifetime Achievement award got candid during his acceptance speech saying he has stolen acting skills from some of the biggest names in show business. Not only that but the award-winning actor also admitted in another interview how he's not always the nicest guy.

During an interview with The Herald Sun, Hanks said how he does have a fiery side to him. He opened up about how it's not always a nice guy routine for him. “I’ll tell you this: if anybody takes advantage of my good nature, they’ll have hell to pay,” the 63-year-old said.

“Anyone who has done it, will say, ‘Oh he’s not that nice a guy.’ Because when that happens, the hammer comes down and it’s relentless. I take care of business when it’s got to be taken care of.”

But the mutliple-award winner contends that it does take quite a bit to make him upset. “Listen, I’m 63-years-old. There is nothing that you can say that will insult me at all. Absolutely nothing. It bounces off me." Hanks did speak about how it feels to be one of the most liked and glorified people in show business.

“I don’t think there’s a person on the planet Earth, no matter where they are — unless they are a sociopath — who doesn’t have a moment somehow where they think, Am I a fraud?" He said to the Today show. "Am I actually what this is? Am I actually being true to myself enough to know that at any given moment I truly am present?”

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced last year it would be bestowing Hanks with the prestigious award. HFPA President Lorenzo Soria went on to express the association's admiration for the actor. “For more than three decades, he’s captivated audiences with rich and playful characters that we’ve grown to love and admire,” he said.

Introducing the award to Hanks was Charlize Theron. She expressed on the red carpet before the event how nerve-racking it was for her to be bestowing the award to the 63-year-old. "He's my hero," she said to Entertainment Tonight. While presenting the award Theron expressed:

"The most undeniable thing that can be said about Tom Hanks is both deceptively simple and yet overwhelmingly true is that he just makes the world a better place,"

Hanks said during his acceptance speech how he has been able to continue throughout his successful career. "You're a dope if you don't steal from everybody you have ever worked with, and I have stolen from the likes of the people who only need one name," he said.

And the actor has worked with names like Meryl Streep, Denzel Washington, Meg Ryan and so many more.
