We often hear stories about famous people who seem kind and sweet on TV and social media but turn out to be not as charming in real life. Known for his roles in Forrest Gump, Sleepless in Seattle, Cast Away, or Sully, actor Tom Hanks has become a legend and an icon for many fans.

He makes friends easily

First of all, Tom Hanks certainly doesn't have any difficulties to befriend virtually anyone. Even though his career keeps reaching new heights, he doesn't make a big deal out of his fame. He loves to meet new people and enjoys communicating with fans who recognize him on the street, or waiters at a restaurant.

In 2013, Hanks was performing on Broadway in the play Lucky Guy. Sarah Moretti, a fan of his, got the chance to meet the actor backstage and gave him a handmade present. It was a huge scrapbook full of magazine cuttings with articles about Hanks. The present left Hanks overwhelmed and filled with joy. While he examined the pages he talked to Sarah Moretti in the kindest way.

He attentively takes care of his fanmail

Celebrities usually don't read and answer their fanmail, most of them have one of their assistants deal with all of that. But when it comes to Tom Hanks's fanmail, it is actually the man himself who takes care of it. Hanks loves to use an oldfashioned typewriter to reply to his fans who sometimes even happened to find a selfie of the actor attached to the letter.

He’ll do anything to make a fan happy

When Tom Hanks was part of an autograph-signing session for one of the Toy Story movies, he was told to only give fans his signature on the promotional book they were given. But Hanks didn't seem to care about that instruction as soon as the first children came up to him. He ended up signing whatever they had on them to put a smile on their faces.
